Olympic Games Qualification
With the 2011 World Gymnastics Championships behind us and the results finalised, the Men’s Australian Team placed in 18th position. Unfortunately, this placing has knocked us out of the race to gain team selection.
However, Australia will now be able to send only one (1) male all around gymnast to the Olympic Games. Below are the steps needed to qualify.
1. Qualify for the London Prepares Series - COMPLETED
Two (2) Australian all around gymnast will compete at the London Prepares Series in January. These two athletes will be named following a final trial in mid November.
2. Make the cut off at the London Prepares Series - COMPLETED
A total of 40 all around gymnasts from all over the World, including the two Australians, will be competing to make the yet to be determined cut off line (25 - 28 gymnasts). The London Prepares Series will be held in London from the 10th-14th January 2012.
3. Qualify for the Olympic Games
Gymnastics Australia will select one of them to go to the Olympic Games. This will be announced in May 2012 following a selection period.
